The pre-school is a registered charity and is run by an elected committee consisting of parents. This committee is responsible for running the pre-school, reviewing both policy and practice, and for the employment and appraisal of members of staff.
Parents are invited to join this committee – without it, the pre-school legally cannot run. Meetings are held once per half term. Details of meetings and the committee members are displayed on the noticeboard at the village hall. Our Annual General Meeting, at which the committee for the following year is elected, is held in the autumn each year and parents will be informed in good time so that they are able to attend.
Roles & responsibilities
Overall responsibility for organising the Committee, chairing meetings and liaising between staff and Committee.
Provides support to Chair and stands in for Chair as appropriate.
Takes minutes at meetings & distributes to relevant parties afterwards. Responsible for communications to parents, staff and external bodies.
Responsible for bank accounts, paying bills & organising petty cash for staff. Payroll & accounts are handled by an outside organisation.
Produces invoices & reminders about fees for parents where place is not government funded.
This is a staff position, dealing with admin issues and acting as a point of contact with Ofsted, including organising relevant checks on new Committee members.
General Committee Members
Attend meetings and provide input/vote on issues. Support pre-school as and when required.
The staff also come along to meetings to provide their input. Sandra is the Preschool Leader with overall responsibility for the setting. Cheryl is her Deputy and Emma is a Pre-school Assistant. They work together as a team to provide the activities available to your children, in line with the requirements of the Early Years Framework.
